What is Seed Cycling?

Seed cycling is a food-based wellness practice that involves incorporating specific types of seeds into your diet at different stages of your cycle. It’s a simple way to add nutrient-rich, wholefood ingredients—such as flax, pumpkin, sunflower, and sesame seeds into your daily routine, with the aim of supporting overall wellbeing and consistency.

Many people use seed cycling as part of a broader approach to menstrual wellness, whether tracking their cycle or following the lunar phases as a guide. While more research is emerging, the practice is based on traditional knowledge and nutritional science relating to the natural properties of seeds.

How Seed Cycling Works

To follow seed cycling, you typically divide your routine into two phases:

  • Phase 1 (Days 1–14 or New Moon to Full Moon):
During this phase, you consume a blend of ground flax and pumpkin seeds. These seeds are a natural source of fibre, lignans, and omega-3 fatty acids.

  • Phase 2 (Days 15–28 or Full Moon to New Moon):
During this phase, sunflower and sesame seeds are introduced. These are rich in nutrients such as zinc and vitamin E, and contain omega-6 fatty acids.

If your cycle is irregular or absent—for example, during menopause or while navigating natural hormonal shifts—some people choose to follow the lunar cycle as a guide. Starting Phase 1 on the new moon and switching to Phase 2 on the full moon provides a steady rhythm that mimics the typical 28-day cycle.

Why Consistency Matters

As with any nutritional habit, consistency is key. Including the right types and quantities of seeds regularly in your routine may support dietary balance and a sense of rhythm throughout the month. Our blends are carefully measured to provide a standardised daily amount, making it easy to stay on track without the need for daily prep.

Getting Started Is Easy

One simple and delicious way to begin your seed cycling habit is by incorporating blends into everyday meals—like smoothies, oats, or even snack bites. For example, our Seed Cycle Brownie Bites are a popular Phase 1-friendly recipe that makes it easy to nourish your body with intention.

⚠️ Important Note

Seed cycling is not a treatment or cure for any health condition. If you have specific health concerns or are managing a diagnosed condition, it's always best to speak with a qualified healthcare professional before making dietary changes.
