Green Goddess Smoothie with Gut Fibre, Sea Buckthorn & Seed Cycle

Green Goddess Smoothie with Gut Fibre, Sea Buckthorn & Seed Cycle

If you want a green smoothie that actually tastes good, this is it.

This creamy Green Goddess Smoothie combines spinach, avocado, green apple, honey, nut milk, Sea Buckthorn, Gut Fibre and your daily Seed Cycle for a simple breakfast or snack packed with fibre, healthy fats, plant nutrients and protein-friendly goodness.

It’s fresh, creamy, slightly sweet and naturally vibrant—and it takes just a few minutes to make.

Even better, it’s an easy way to get several of your daily nutritional rituals into one glass.

Why you'll love this Green Goddess Smoothie

This isn't just another green smoothie that tastes like lawn clippings.

The avocado makes it creamy, the apple and honey add sweetness, and Sea Buckthorn brings a deliciously tart, fruity note.

Then we add Seed Cycle Gut Fibre and your daily Seed Cycle to make it even more nourishing.

Think of it as your morning shortcut for getting more:

  • Fibre

  • Plant foods

  • Healthy fats

  • Seeds

  • Prebiotic fibre

  • Fruit and vegetables

  • Naturally occurring vitamins and phytonutrients

into your day.

What's in the Green Goddess Smoothie?

Spinach

Spinach is an easy way to add leafy greens to your breakfast.

It's naturally rich in folate, vitamin K, vitamin A and other plant compounds, and adding leafy greens regularly contributes to overall dietary plant diversity.

You don't need a giant handful of spinach to make a smoothie “healthy”.

A generous handful is plenty—and because we're blending it with apple, avocado and Sea Buckthorn, you won't be left with an overpowering green flavour.

Avocado

Avocado is what gives this smoothie its creamy texture.

It's also a source of monounsaturated fats, fibre and several vitamins and minerals.

The healthy fats also make this smoothie more satisfying than a simple fruit-and-liquid smoothie.

Green apple

The green apple adds natural sweetness and a fresh, crisp flavour.

It also provides fibre and plant compounds, including polyphenols.

I recommend keeping the skin on if your apple is well washed, because that's where you'll find some of the fruit's plant compounds and fibre.

Sea Buckthorn

This is the ingredient that makes this smoothie a little different.

Sea buckthorn is a small, bright orange berry naturally containing vitamin C, carotenoids, vitamin E, polyphenols and fatty acids including Omega-7.

It's particularly interesting for skin health because of this combination of nutrients and plant compounds.

Research is emerging around sea buckthorn and skin and mucosal health, including a 2025 review examining its potential roles in antioxidant, inflammatory and skin-barrier pathways.

There has also been human research involving postmenopausal women. A randomized controlled trial involving 116 women found that sea buckthorn oil was associated with a significant improvement in vaginal epithelial integrity compared with placebo after three months. Importantly, this study used sea buckthorn oil, not whole berry powder, so the result should not automatically be applied to our Sea Buckthorn powder.

We use 100% organic crushed sea buckthorn berry powder because we wanted the whole berry rather than an isolated Omega-7 ingredient.

Seed Cycle Gut Fibre

This is one of my favourite ways to use Gut Fibre.

One heaped teaspoon gives you three different prebiotic fibres plus a probiotic culture.

The three fibres are:

  • PHGG

  • Acacia fibre

  • Psyllium husk

Each has different properties, giving you a broader range of dietary fibre rather than relying on just one source.

Prebiotic fibres provide fuel for your gut microbes, while psyllium also absorbs water and contributes to stool bulk and regularity.

Adding Gut Fibre to a smoothie is particularly easy because it blends straight in.

Seed Cycle

Then we add your daily Seed Cycle.

Depending on where you are in your cycle, use:

Phase 1: Pumpkin + Flax

or

Phase 2: Sunflower + Sesame

Each serving provides your daily two tablespoons of freshly ground organic seeds.

This gives you additional fibre, healthy fats, minerals and naturally occurring plant compounds.

Flax and sesame are also sources of lignans, which are metabolised by gut bacteria into enterolignans.

We don't use Seed Cycling because we believe it is a magic hormone-balancing treatment.

We use it as a simple, food-first ritual that makes it easy to incorporate nutrient-dense seeds into your everyday diet.

Green Goddess Smoothie Recipe

Serves

1 large smoothie

Prep time

5 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 generous handful baby spinach

  • ½ ripe avocado

  • 1 small green apple, cored

  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk or your preferred nut milk

  • ½ cup ice

  • 1 teaspoon honey, or to taste

  • 1 teaspoon Sea Buckthorn Berry Powder

  • 1 heaped tablespoon Seed Cycle Gut Fibre

  • 1 scoop Seed Cycle — Phase 1 or Phase 2

  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon or lime juice

  • Optional: ½ teaspoon fresh grated ginger

  • Optional: ½ cup cucumber for extra freshness

  • Optional: ½ cup Greek yoghurt or coconut yoghurt for extra creaminess

Optional protein boost

If you're having this as breakfast and want it to be more substantial, Seed Cycling + Collagen.

1. Add your liquid first

Pour the nut milk into your blender.

Adding the liquid first helps everything blend more easily.

2. Add your greens

Add the spinach, avocado and apple.

If you're using cucumber or ginger, add those now too.

3. Add the good stuff

Add:

  • Sea Buckthorn

  • Seed Cycle Gut Fibre

  • Your current Seed Cycle phase

  • Honey

  • Lemon or lime juice

Add the ice last.

4. Blend

Blend on high for around 45–60 seconds, or until completely smooth and creamy.

If your smoothie is too thick, add a splash more nut milk.

If you want it sweeter, add a little more honey or another piece of apple.

5. Drink immediately

Pour into a glass and enjoy straight away.

Why this smoothie is great for your gut

One of the biggest reasons I love this smoothie is the variety.

Instead of relying on one fibre source, you're getting fibre from:

Spinach + apple + avocado + chia-free whole foods + Seed Cycle + Gut Fibre

And then Gut Fibre adds three complementary prebiotic fibres alongside a probiotic culture.

Your gut microbes thrive on a diverse range of plant fibres, so regularly eating a variety of colourful plant foods is a much more useful long-term goal than chasing one “perfect” gut food.

Think:

more plants + more variety + more fibre.

That's the goal.

Why add Sea Buckthorn to your smoothie?

Smoothies are one of the easiest ways to incorporate Sea Buckthorn because its naturally tart flavour works beautifully with sweet fruit.

The combination of apple, honey and avocado balances the tartness of the berry, while the spinach adds the green goodness without overpowering the flavour.

And because Sea Buckthorn is naturally rich in carotenoids, vitamin C, vitamin E and polyphenols, it's a beautiful addition to a skin-focused smoothie.

This is why we've become so interested in Sea Buckthorn as part of a food-first approach to skin health.

Your skincare routine doesn't have to stop at your bathroom shelf.

What you eat matters too.

A note about increasing your fibre

If you're new to Gut Fibre or significantly increasing your fibre intake, start gradually and make sure you're drinking plenty of water throughout the day.

This smoothie already contains fibre from the fruit, vegetables, avocado, seeds and Gut Fibre, so it's a great idea to give your digestive system time to adjust if you're not currently eating much fibre.

And remember:

fibre needs water.

Increasing fibre while not increasing your fluid intake can leave you feeling uncomfortable.

Make it your own

The Green Goddess Smoothie is very forgiving.

Try adding:

For more protein

Greek yoghurt, protein powder or collagen.

For more freshness

Cucumber, fresh mint or extra lemon.

For extra anti-inflammatory flavour

Fresh ginger or turmeric.

For more sweetness

Banana, pineapple or a little extra honey.

For extra fibre

Chia seeds, flaxseed or additional fruit.

For a tropical version

Swap the apple for pineapple and use coconut milk.
